Ingredients & safety

How to read the proposed product specifications, NRVs, ingredients and supplement warnings.

What NRV means

Nutrient Reference Value is a labelling reference used to show how much a daily portion contributes relative to a standard adult reference amount. It is not a personalised target, treatment dose or maximum safe amount.

Read the whole label

Final product pages will reproduce the mandatory information available before purchase, including the food name, ingredients with allergens emphasised, nutrient amount per daily portion, recommended daily amount, a warning not to exceed it, storage instructions, a statement that supplements should not replace a varied diet, and the responsible business name and address.

General precautions

  • Do not exceed the recommended daily amount.
  • Keep food supplements out of reach of young children.
  • Consider the same nutrients in other supplements and fortified foods.
  • Do not use a damaged or unsealed sachet.
  • Seek professional advice if medicines, health conditions, pregnancy or breastfeeding may affect suitability.
  • Food supplements do not prevent, treat or cure disease.

Great Britain and Northern Ireland

The initial scope is Great Britain. Northern Ireland has additional food-law and address requirements under the Windsor Framework and will remain outside the delivery area until a separate label review is complete.
